Four Hard-working Mathematicians
Recently, four young, hard-working mathematicians have had a truly exciting opportunity.
Miss Allen and Ms Tierney took four Year 5 children to the brand new technology park at Chichester University to be part of a Maths STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) event. Our budding mathematicians were taught alongside children from five other schools and were taught to build a miniature wind turbine. The idea was that the turbine would be used to generate electricity. The children had to use the maths knowledge they were taught and their problem solving skills to create a working turbine. All four children came away from the morning being thoroughly challenged and two of them came away with ambitions of studying at university.
After an extra lesson here at school, we'll be heading back to Chichester University Technology Park soon to show off what we have learnt.
Paralympian Jonny Paterson and Jack Rutter came to share their story on becoming footballers for Team GB.
