Week 1 - 23/03/20

Below you will find your English working from home activity sheet.

This sheet contains work for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and a new set of work will be released on Thursday.

As well as completing this work, make sure you put a timer on and read for at least 20 minutes every day. Reading to an adult would be best.

You will also be able to find a link on the website for a recording of our class book so we can all still have story time together.

We wish you were with us in school but we are all looking forward to seeing you as soon as possible.

Miss Allen

Lesson 1

In Maths, we have been learning about measurement. Over the next week we will be looking at 'mass'.

There is no better way than learning about weight than actually being in the kitchen and weighing food.

It will be great if the children were able to add different weights.

The National Curriuclum objectives for mass are:

  • measure, compare, add and subtract: lengths (m/cm/mm); mass (kg/g); volume/capacity (l/ml

The children can measure the ingredients for their breakfast/lunch/dinner. For example, 100g of carrot, 100g of brocolli, 250g of spaghetti and 500g of chicken.

Can they find the total mass of all the ingredients?  Compare the different weights. Add the total amount of weight for all the ingredients combined.

You can ask them questions such as:

'How much heavier is the carrot than the spaghetti?'

'If one portion of spaghetti is 150g, how much spaghetti will I need for 5 people?'

'I need to share 1kg 550g of potato between 5 people. How many grams will they get each?'

Please send me videos/pictures of the cooking you do.

In Science, we have been looking at plants. We would like you to find a flower (as small as a daisy or buttercup would be perfect) and carefully take it apart. Lay each of the parts out on a pieces of paper and label as much as you can. Once you have finished, take a picture and email it to your class teacher.

In PSHE, we have been looking at keeping safe. In particular, this is very important at the moment. We may not have previously concerned washing our hands thoroughly as keeping safe. However, it is now clear to us all it is important for us to stay healthy. We all need to be washing our hands for at least 20 seconds. Come up with a way of making sure it is the correct length of time for example a song or jig.

Please head over to our History/Geography page. Mr Boll has created some fantastic lessons on YouTube that you can do.

In Music, we have started looking at pitch (how high or low a sound is). Listen to a song and notice the high and low parts. Sing along to the song copying the pitch.

Can you complete the 30 day lego challenge? Click on the link below.

Send us your designs!

In R.E, we have been learning about the Easter Story. We would like you to re-write the Easter Story in your own words. Remember to include what the different people in the story believed. Try to include their feelings at each stage of the story. The completion date for this is Friday 3rd April 2020.
